It is said that if you want to make good in softball hitting, you have to master the proper way of swinging. In fact, some of them think that improving swinging technique is the only way to become very good in hitting the ball.

Little they know that good swinging techniques are just a part of the softball hitting skill. You need to understand that you should know a lot more if you really want to make a name in the field of softball. The first thing you should consider is to know the direction to where the ball is going. This skill is referred to as tracking. If you want to track the ball well, you should have the ability to estimate the direction of the ball from the time the pitcher release it to the time it reaches your swinging reach.

However you have to understand that you cannot learn this skill overnight. You know that the ball is quickly moving when it leaves the hand of the pitcher and it will only give you little time to react and track its direction. This is why it is very important for coaches to teach their players different drills that will enhance this skill.

Second thing you need to develop is the skill to know when NOT to hit the ball. If you are in the field, there are tomes that it is very impossible to hit the ball and if you insist, this will only lead to strike. There are also times that swinging a bat will constitute the ball.

Just like you, pitcher has learn different techniques in pitching the ball, therefore there is a need for you if you to know if you will swing your bat or not. But this is not as easy as you think especially with fast pitch balls.
