softball coaching, come after you establish your philosophy. There will be objectives for you, your staff, the athletes, and the team. These objectives will come from what you think is important in terms of the game and will be in your mind at every softball hour: during practice, pre-game, game, and the off-season. The athletes will have most of the objectives, because they play the game. Many of these objectives are set to help the athlete reach their peak performance. Team objectives will help you decide if you have really won or lost the game past the scoreboard. If the team gets the majority of its missions done, you should feel like you won even when you really lost the game. It should be the coach's goal to help the players reach theirs.
