When the
softball catcher is giving signals, usually to the pitcher, shortstop, or second baseman, the catcher takes a comfortable stance with her trunk up and head facing the pitcher. The right-handed catcher should rest her left forearm on her left thigh with the wrist held up at the top of the knee. Her glove will gently rest along the knee with the pocket facing the other knee so it hides the signals from the opposing coach at third base. It's a good idea for the catcher to signal the second baseman for a pickoff at second or at first, as well as signal the first baseman for the pickoff at first and the shortstop for a pickoff at third.
